On June 13, 1944, the maquisards led by René Vielle intercepted an important German convoy at the gates of Grenade sur l’Adour. In retaliation, the population gathered in the square witnessed the burning of its main buildings and the arrest of fifty hostages, many of whom were deported

In 1999, the municipal museum was opened, bringing together the numerous testimonies of this dark period.
In 2022, the museum increased its collection, which is accompanied by explanatory panels, mixing administrative documents, letters from deportees and testimonies…

A moment of emotion and memory towards the heroes of this dark period of national history.
